Twenty-one mayors who had served Labasa were recognised on Monday night during the town’s 75th anniversary on Monday night.

They were recognised for helping build Labasa Town.

Anniversary chief guest, the Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment, Parveen Kumar said many individuals, like the mayors who gave their times to lead the township, contributed to its growth.

“We pay tribute to the many staff and workers over the years for their service in different areas,” Mr Kumar said.

He said Labasa was a people’s town and had been a town of its people.

“It is a proud town and has rightfully earned the famous saying The Friendly North.”
