With less than 24 hours away from the New Year, sports personalities around the country will be reflecting on this as the new and exciting year approaches.

Most tend to stray away from their New Year’s resolution, but not for Pacific Sprint King, Banuve Tabakaucoro.

“My plans and resolution for 2015 has always been the same for six years now,” he said.

“I have achieved all of that, which is to train harder and perform better in all competitions that I go to I’m confident that I will achieve that again.

“We have some big competitions next year, like the Pacific Games and World Champs and we are hoping to defend the title and hold on to it for another four years and I plan to run even faster at the World Champs.”

Looking back at this year, Tabakaucoro says, it has been a productive one.

“This year has been a pretty tough one. We had a few competitions, like the Australian champs. I didn’t expect to run pretty fast times, but I’m happy with that,” he said.

“Moving on to 2015, instead of winning silver, we will try and kick it up a notch and aim for gold and run faster times.

“We also had the Oceania Games this year. Breaking the 100 metres record was an achievement for me and I was pretty happy about that.”

Tabakaucoro said another success was when he overcame injury.

“I have been injury free all year around which is something I am really happy about, with the year almost over I am hoping to continue that for next year.”
