Radisson Blu Resort Fiji has once again been nominated as a finalist for the 2014 AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards. Again!

The resort is a finalist not only in the Accommodation Deluxe category but also has a staff member, Mohammed Shahmeen, who has been nominated in the Back of House category.

The prestigious awards will be held this Friday at the Sheraton Fiji Resort Convention Centre on Denarau Island.

Radisson Blu Resort Fiji’s general manager, Gerard Knight, said: “We are delighted to be nominated once again as best deluxe hotel in Fiji.

“We look forward to a fantastic evening for our industry and know only too well that we are up against some stiff completion from other quality resorts.”

The resort strongly believes in giving back to the society and strives to do so whenever possible.

They have also diverted their focus to staff development through 2014 and these factors have placed the resort as finalists.

Mr Knight said: “In 2014, we had a significant focus on developing our team and this effort is reflected in the nomination.

“We are all very community-focused and the great work that our ‘Adopt a School programme’ has achieved in 21 local schools has also undoubtedly helped.

“The resort underwent some significant improvements late in 2014 and it’s testament to the teams ability to deliver fabulous holidays that despite all the capital projects underway our customers continued to rate us so highly.”

Importance of awards

Local awards are always rewarding to these nominees as the industry recognises the hard work that has been invested.

“Nominations such as this reward our very hard working team that is focused on delivering amazing customer service,” Mr Knight said.

“The hospitality industry really needs opportunities like the AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards to recognise outstanding achievements.

“This is to help ensure we all strive for excellence and maintain a great destination for tourists to enjoy over the long term.”
