Forum Gets $493K

The Ba Women’s Forum’s dream of building a training centre would soon materialize after the Japanese government awarded them a grant of $492, 900.

President of the Forum Maria Doton signed the grant assistance with the Japanese Ambassador, Takuji Hanatani, at the Japanese embassy in Suva on Wednesday.

The assistance would fund a two-storey women’s training centre that would be situated in Ba Town.

Also present at the signing were the Speaker to Parliament Jiko Luveni, the Minister for Women, Rosy Akbar, and Marama Na Roko Tui Ba, Adi Laite Koroirua.

Ms Doton said they were grateful for the generosity of the Japanese government.

“We are grateful that your generosity will not only be a financial, meaningful donation but it will be an economic change that will bring a differece for the life of women today and the future generation,” Ms Doton said.

Mr Hanatani said the assistance came through their Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Programme.
