Poor drainage is suspected to have caused flooding in the Vuci South area over the weekend, according to Nausori resident Mohammad Ali.

This was after heavy rains over the weekend had flooded their area.

“It started raining on Saturday and this caused the whole area to flood,” Mr Ali said.

He said the road in the area was closed because of the continuous rain over the weekend.

“On Saturday, we were not able to go anywhere because the roads were closed but yesterday we are able to get back to our normal day to day chores hence we had to cross the flooded road,” he said.

Another resident Suma Wati said: “The poor drainage in the area has been the main contributing factor of continuous flooding.”

The heavy downpour over the weekend had caused flooding in certain areas in Vusiya and Vuci in Nausori.
