SWY Website Launched

Minster of Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou launched the 9th Global Ship for World Youth (SWY) Assembly yesterday.
The Minister in his speech acknowledges the SWY Fiji and the International Youth Exchange Programme of Japan for choosing Fiji to be the first country in the Pacific to host the 9th Assembly.
“I acknowledge the work of the ship for World Youth Alumni Fiji with the support of the International Youth Exchange Programme of Japan for hosting the Global Youth Assembly in Fiji,” Mr Tuitubou said.
“This I believe is another mammoth task before you, organising such big meetings is no small feat and I look forward to hearing more updates from the Alumni body,” he said.
The Assembly is a gathering of friends and former participants of the SWY who are now members of one of the 42 alumni established in various countries as a post programme scheme.
“I am told that 20 members of the Alumni from Fiji will attend the four- day programme which includes a full day discussion on post programme activities, institutional visits, cultural exchange with youth groups in selected villages and a day cruise,” Mr Tuitubou said.
The Assembly is a unique worldwide international cultural exchange programme that is being set up by the Cabinet office, government of Japan and other countries around the globe and will be held in Nadi on August 13-16.
