Commuters travelling towards Nausori Town were forced to slow down after a two-tonne truck hit the Koronivia Jame Mosque fence on Thursday.

Mosque priest Hafiz Juned said there was not much damage except a dent on the fence.

The truck driver was transported to Nausori Health Centre of minor injuries.

The vehicle was reportedly carrying mill mix from Nausori to Suva.

Two other passengers on board managed to escape unharmed.

Witnesses along the road said the truck was travelling towards Suva from Nausori when the driver allegedly lost control and veered off the road.

Police officers and firefighters at the scene said the driver claimed that the steering wheel was locked.

This caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
