$70m Resort To Open By 2016

The newest $70 million 5-star hotel and resort brand in Fiji by Accor Hotels was officially named yesterday symbolising yet another milestone in Fiji’s tourism industry.

Pullman Nadi Bay Resort & Spa is scheduled to open in 2016 with a 24-month construction phase that will see 300 employment being generated by the resort.

The project is being developed by Gokals Group of Companies.

Fiji ideal for Pullman brand

Vice President of Operations for the Accor Hotel Group in New Zealand & Fiji Garth Simmons, Senior said: “In recent times we have recognised a sweet spot in the upscale market in Fiji, ideal for the Pullman brand which bridges the needs for business and leisure guests

“For that reason, we are very excited for the opportunity to now work with the Gokal Group to introduce Pullman, the fastest growing hotel brand in Asia Pacific, to Fiji, and to support the Gokal family in this milestone venture.”

Minister for Industry, Trade & Tourism Faiyaz Koya said Accor shares a proud history in Fiji with four hotels currently in their portfolio.

“This new partnership will also introduce the ‘Pullman’ brand to Fiji, an already well-known brand in the Asia-Pacific region, by adding an upscale hotel to support and drive tourism in Fiji,” Mr Koya said.

“In order to ensure that the tourism industry maintains a sustainable level of growth, the Fijian Government will continue to make every effort to put in place policies and infrastructure to facilitate growth.

“The factors that have led to steady growth of the industry have been the stable and pro-growth policies of this Government, which have led to increased investment and re-investment in the industry.”

Mr Koya acknowledged Gokals Group for its commitment in Fiji having operated for 70 years and driving the tourism industry .

“I want to express my appreciation to the Gokals Group of Companies, especially to Bob Gokal, Devchand Gokal and Magan Gokal.

“The Gokals Group of Companies has a diversified business portfolio, involved in retail, wholesale, property development and now tourism and are the pioneers of duty-free trade in Fiji.”
