Women can gain a lot by working together.

That’s the simple yet powerful message by two US based business partners, Betsy Polk and Maggie Chotas who own a consulting practice in North Carolina.

They shared this inspirational truth to women in business who gathered in large numbers at a lunch organised by Westpac Fiji Holiday Inn Suva.

The lunch brought to an end a week’s activity organised by the bank in light of International Women’s Day which is observed today.

The event was a Westpac Lunch and Learn Workshop where the two women addressed various topics on women in business issues.

In a joint interview Ms Polk and Ms Chotas said: “We work with organisations to help them figure out their communication, area of barriers, overcoming suggestions.”

This truth they have shared in book they co-author called: Power through partnership – How women lead better together’.

In the process of writing the book and through the collaboration of the Mulberry Partners the two found that women can gain a lot by working together.

Ms Polk and Ms Maggie had conducted 125 interviews with women from various industries and organisations.

“We shared with the participants that there are benefits that can come from women working together,” they said.

“These are areas like how to overcome some of the challenges that come our way and how to build a power shift mindset.

“Which means affectively working in a collaborative partnership so that we can all achieve our goals together,” they added.

And while their co-authored book was different from their line of business, it was the business they shared which enabled them to produce the book.

“It giving us so much job, satisfaction and energy from working together,” they added.
