Banuve Tabakaucoro won gold in the 100 metres during the Melbourne World Challenge last Saturday.

The Bau, Tailevu native clocked 10.46 seconds. Shop N Athletics Fiji received an invitation for Tabakaucoro to compete. Coach Bola Tafo’ou applauded the International Olympic Committee and Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee for their support.

“Banuve clocked 21.4 seconds in the 200metres and came fifth but clocked 10.46sec in the 100m,” he said. It’s a good build up to the Pacific Games in July for Banuve.”

Meanwhile, athletes who competed at the Noumea International Meet fared well.

“Very satisfactory results by our athletes despite the windy and wet conditions,” Coach Makelesi Batimala said.

Results: Field events:

1. Milika Tuivanuavou: Shot put- 14.41m (Season best)- 1st place, 2. Makelesi Tumalevu: Long Jump – 4.98m- 2nd place

100m hurdles: 1. Sisilia Seavula – 15.85s – 4th place,

100m Women

1. Younis Bese – 12.90 – 1st place, 2. Heleina Young – 12.98 – 3rd place

3. Elenoa Sailosi – 13.04.,

100m Ambulant Men

1. Epeli Baleibau – 12.40s- (PB)- 2nd place

100m Men (-0.9 wind) & rain

1. Vilisoni Rarasea – 11.17s – 1st place & Season’s best,

2. Aaron Powell – 11.19s – 2nd place.

3. Albert Miller – 11.33s – 4th place
