Music fans will get the chance to witness their favourite singers and bands in an upcoming event organized by the Fiji Performing Rights (FPRA).

The second annual FPRA Music Awards Night awards will be held on May 16 at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.

The FPRA will be presenting a Black Tie Event from 6pm to 1am with ticket and members of the public could attend if they buy their tickets.

According to FPRA, tickets are now available at $150 per person for a table of 10 that includes one hour free cocktail; two bottles wine per table; four course dinner and a night of great entertainment.

FPRA director Seru Serevi had said that the awards will be an exciting event for music in Fiji.

He said the  objectives of the awards included encouraging creativity and originality in music, publicly acknowledge and reward outstanding works of music and boost copyright awareness in Fiji.

This year the awards will have thirteen categories which include best composition, most popular song, best iTaukei, Hindi and English songs, best new artist and best gospel artist category which will be introduced from his year.

Meanwhile, the top five nominees for Best Music Video are the songs Rain by Elena Baravilala, Mangi Island by Mereani Masani, Make a change by Artist for Hope, Na dodomo e mataboko by Wise Qilatabu and Mositi by VLY.

Members of the public are requested to vote for their favourite song or artists by texting.
