FNU Relief Items For Pacific
The Fiji National University (FNU) donated relief items to the High Commissions of Vanuatu, Kiribati and Tuvalu yesterday.
The Vanuatu and Tuvalu donations included food items, blankets, mosquito nets and clothes while the Kiribati donation contained clothes.
The FNU acting vice-chancellor Professor Ian Rouse said the institution was pleased to help out with countries affected by Cyclone Pam.
“The students and staff from the university got together and donated all these things to help out and we are trying to provide some support to those countries, even if it’s just relief items,” Professor Rouse said.
The Vanuatu High Commissioner Nicke Nicke Vurobaravu said the donation was something they had not expected.
“I am grateful to the institution for the critical collected supplies for the devastated families particularly in Vila and the southern part of Vanuatu .We will try and get this supplies shipped to Vanuatu in the next coming weeks for them to be received and distributed by our NDMO in Vila and the other islands where they are needed most,” Mr Vurobaravu said.
Meanwhile, Kiribati and Tuvalu High Commissioner Reteta Rimon Nikuata and Paulson Panapa were thankful for the FNU initiative.
