More rural students have been given the ability to access educational resources using the worldwide web.

Solevu Catholic Mission School in the Bua is the latest to do so after being given five Samsung tablets and Wi-Fi gadgets this week by the Vodafone ATH Foundation.

School teacher Seremana Lutukibau said the school was very grateful to receive such grants.

“The school has not received such grants from such big organisations like Vodafone before,” Mrs Lutukibau said.

The gadgets were handed to Mrs Lutukibau by the Foundation World of Difference candidate Peni Tabua and Vodafone’s Ravinesh Chand at the Vodafone Labasa Branch office.

“Students can now research online while doing their assignments,” said Mrs Lutukibau, adding that teachers would benefit as well.

She said one of the biggest benefits was that students would save time and money travelling to Labasa for internet access.

Mr Tabua said it was a great opportunity for them to have a feel of the latest technology available.

“It will be good for them for the school students in doing research work and other learning activities,” he said.

Mr Tabua said the foundation had been helping people at grassroots level and was very supportive of the fight against Non- Communicable Diseases in the North.
