What happened:
The Jiuta Takubu-captained Nadi team retained the Hotel Equipment-sponsored annual Tui Vuda Trophy defeating Lautoka 20-14 at Nadovu Park last Saturday.

The sugar city boys registered the first points through two penalties kicked by flyhalf Lepani Seduadua in the 3rd and the 37th minutes. With the pressure mounting, three Nadi forwards were sin- binned by referee Johnson Lee.

Nadi’s flyhalf Setareki Tuicuru kicked three penalties for the jetsetters to lead 9-6 at halftime.

In the second spell, both teams scored a try each to Marika Lasaqa and Sunia Vosikata, but the boot of Tuicuru made the difference.

Star Turn: Jiuta Takubu and Inia Naqia played well for Nadi.

Big Play: Lepani Seduadua, Serupepeli Vularika and Apenisa Nasilasila combined well and could be key players for the Maroons in the Skipper Cup competition.

Comments:
Nadi vice-captain Robert Delai; “It was a good match and we still need to work more on a lot of areas.” Lautoka Maroons coach Ifereimi Rawaqa; “I thank Nadi for a good match. We need to improve on our defence and contesting the tackle ball.”
