Since stepping down as FASANOC president Reg Sanday looks firm on forming the proposed Nadi Sports Council.

He said the Nadi Sports Council is an innovative concept that needs to be rolled out soon.

“I have more time on my hands to devote to establishing the Nadi Sports Council,” he said.

“The West (Jasper William High School and Natabua High School both won the girls and boys titles respectively) recently cleaned-up at the Coca-Cola Games.”

He said population shifts in recent years plus the application of sports science in our young athletes are showing that the centre of gravity for Fiji sports has shifted towards the west.

“We need to nurture this process so that maximum gains can be gained by society,” Sanday said.

He also said a few prominent people in Lautoka want to establish a similar body and they want to work closely together.

The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Dr Ram Raju who is actively involved in sports shared similar sentiments.

“We have called for a meeting to be held this week so we can move forward from where our discussion has been placed,” he said.

Crib Fitness centre director Kunjal Nair said with the expansion in infrastructure in Nadi is a great time to explore the sports side of it.

The meeting will be held today from 12.30pm to 2pm at the Millennium Group of Companies’ office in Martintar, Nadi.
