North Pole Labasa will join, Rewa, Ba and Lautoka in the semifinal of the 2015 Vodafone Fijian FACT at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park today.

What happened: The Babasiga Lions held on despite a late rally by Suva. The northerners opened the scoring through a penalty to Taione Kerevanua in the 13th  minute.

Halftime: Labasa 1 – 0 Suva

Suva regrouped and equalised midway in the second spell through Leone Damudamu after a blunder by the Labasa defence.

However, a red card to Dave Radrigai did not help the capital side.

Suva entered the match needing a win while the Babasiga Lions needed just a point to pull through.

Star turn: Midfielder Taione Kerevanua was instrumental in the Babasiga Lions’ attack and scored the goal.

Big play: Leone Damudamu equalising for the capital city side.

Labasa coach Bal Sarju Reddy: “Obviously happy as it was our goal to reach the semi-final and we have done that. The boys played according to game plan as we only needed a draw from here. The semi-final will be a different story altogether.”

Suva coach Gurjeet Singh said: “We came into this match needing win but the result was not in our favour.”
