Officers at the Ba Corrections Centre were last week reminded to improve their performance and attitude towards their work.

The Commissioner of Corrections, Lieutenant-Colonel Ifereimi Vasu, made this comment while touring the centre last week.

“Always think positive and if you think negatively, you will make the work harder and you will drive us backward,” Lieutenant-Colonel Vasu said.

He urged them to work together as a team to improve the standards of their performance.

The Commissioner also highlighted the need to decrease the number of recidivists.

He said inmates should be well-informed that prison was not the place to be.

“If you have recidivists in your centre, try your best to discipline them before they are released,” he said.

Lieutenant-Colonel Vasu had earlier highlighted that the number of recidivists coming in had increase from 12 to 15 in the first quarter of this year.

He commended the officers for their work in carrying out the duties of the service.
