John McKee says the Fijian Rugby needs to be stronger upfront to be competitive on the world stage.

The Vodafone Fijians head coach, McKee conducted programmes with technical coach Alan Muir, in Suva.

“We want to develop and promote a front row culture in Fiji,” McKee said.

“I don’t think we’ve really had it before and know that at the top level of the game where I’ve done a lot of work recently, the scrum is such a critical part of the game,” he said.

“When the Flying Fijians, the Warriors or the U20 go on the international stage, you come under a lot of pressure in the scrum.

“In Fiji we need to work with our front rowers on all levels to help them improve their technique.

“We’re targeting players and coaches but it’s very important that the coaches come and learn.”
