Fiji FA Vows More For Labasa
Labasa Football have more reason to celebrate after winning the Vodafone Fijian FACT last weekend.
Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel said there would be more football tournaments in Labasa.
Patel highlighted this during the victory celebrations yesterday.
“As far as Fiji FA is concerned we would love to see more tournaments in Labasa,” he said.
“With the assurance from the special administrator Vijay Chand, we will make sure to bring it as we have promised.
“I’ve got US$500,000 from FIFA to build a new regional academy in Labasa.
“The officials are working on securing the land that we are eyeing already. “We should start this project in September once we get the land secured from Government.
“Also we have started the development centres for the kids this year at Nadogo, Seaqaqa and Labasa.
“We also have a centre of development and centre of excellence this is very good news. And it doesn’t stop there because we will be establishing it in six districts in Vanua Levu.”
He said they would ensure football stay alive and the youngsters are given the opportunity to play football.
“You celebrate but also look at the target of winning other titles like the Rewa Galaxy Premier League, Battle of the Giants and Courts Inter-District Championship.”
Meanwhile, Subrail Park would soon undergo upgrading work.
“As I have been given the assurance by the special administrator Labasa and Savusavu that he will upgrade Subrail Park.
“I promise you today that next year the Vodafone Fijian FACT will be played at the Subrail Park in Labasa.
This has to come from Fiji FA for the fans of Labasa to make sure they do defend their title in their home soil and do win again.
To the fans of Labasa we give you as you wish from Fiji FA that the Vodafone Fijian FACT will be played at the Subrail Park in Labasa next year.”
The Fiji FA president thanked the sponsors especially his good friend Vinesh Dayal.
