Public Complaints Against Service

Commissioner of Police Ben Groenewald says complaints made against Police officers are mostly about service delivery.

“Most of the complaints by the public are on the delays of feedbacks to their queries and complaints,” Mr Groenewald said.

He said it took time for officers to respond because of the lack of resources.

“The welfare and safety of the people is critical and all complaints are treated as important and we will look into it although it may take time to get the feedbacks especially when there’s lack of resources,” he said.

Mr Groenewald said since joining the force last year, he had faced operational and organisational challenges.

“We are taking steps to address those challenges and the implementation of these changes is ongoing.”

He said he’s almost completed compiling his annual report which will soon be submitted it to his line minister.

“I’m very happy that we had successfully managed the policing of the 2014 General Elections and also pre and post election,” he said.

Meanwhile the Commissioner has also confirmed they were looking into the seven complaints of alleged Police brutality in the Northern Division.
