The Vodafone Fijian 7s team and officials were greeted with a rousing standing ovation from thousands of fans at the Nadi International Airport yesterday.

People from all walks of life flooded the arrival lounge to catch a glimpse of the Sevens World Series title holders.

“We did not expect this. We have been overwhelmed by the support,” Captain Osea Kolinisau said.

“Imagine what would happen if we win the gold medal in Rio 2016 Olympics. We are really happy to be the only second team in the history of Fiji rugby to win the Series.

“We know the Fijian fans back home are very passionate about the 7’s rugby and we all deserve a standing ovation.”

Kolinisau reiterated that Ben Ryan’s hard words during the half-time match at the Glasgow 7s were expected.

“I think we deserved that because in the first half we weren’t playing the way we were playing in the last two days and it was good that he came in and talked some sense into us and fired the boys up to win the Glasgow 7s.” Kini Domolailai, wife of 7s forward Apisalome Domolailai was over among the thousands  at the airport.

“Ever since he was dropped from Fiji 7s, he had another reason to get back into camp,” she said.

“He really needed to be encouraged and I always made him promise to do his best on the field since the Hideaway Hurricanes backed him with Amenoni Nasilasila. I’m over the moon with what he has achieved so far, especially with the try against NZ.”

Nippy playmaker Amenoni Nasilasila’s proud mothe,r Asivina Neano, 42, was so happy that she could not hold back tears.
