Three Telecom Fijiana reps are expected be out of the rugby paddock for one month due to injury.

During the two weeks of crucial 7s action at the final leg of the World Rugby Women’s series in England and Amsterdam saw senior’s players Lavenia Tinai (rover), Elina Taoba (forward) and Pricilla Siata (rover) sustaining injuries.

“Lavenia and Prisilla suffered concussion with Elina (broken finger),” said coach Iliesa Tanivula.

“It will take some time over two to three weeks so that they are clear to play and some niggling injury as well but they should be ready for the Pacific Games.”

He said PNG, Samoa, Tonga and Cook Islands are expecting to give tough competition at the 2015 Pacific Games in PNG in July.

“We are really way above our head and there is serious competition and we should be working towards it,” he added.

We aimed for two things to qualify for Rio but we missed out but we are still as a core team in the World Rugby Series.

It was a good learning curve for me as a coach.

According to Tanivula the team will be competing at the Central Coast 7’s in Australia and the Fiji Coral Coast 7’s later in the year as well.

“We have a very smaller base player to choose from but we just to focus for the best of the team. The selection is always open as we want the best players to represent Fiji at all times.”

Meanwhile, Tanivula said the team would take a two-week break before marching into camp for serious business to win the Oceania 7s.
