Fijian Pearls Netball captain Mere Rabuka Neiliko strongly believes her team will play to their standard during the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea next month.

“I do believe that the girls that have been picked now will do the job and who ever will play to represent the country on the day will do us proud,” she said.

“Even though Samoa and Cook Islands might be coming in with overseas based players but we have local talent and we have big advantage to win gold medal because we have been playing around together for long and we know each other very well.”

The Tavualevu village native has played 69 caps for Fiji and her first Pacific Games was in 2003 in Fiji and played her second in 2007 in Samoa where she captained the team.

“This will be my third Pacific Games and as captain my challenge now is to keep on reminding the girls to stay focus and go out there and utilise all opportunities,” she said.

“We are looking forward to go out there and play to our standard and for the fans we would love everyone to support the team.

“Samoa, Cook Islands and PNG are never the same team that we played against in the last two months they always bring in new players but we keep on challenging ourselves,” Neiliko added.
