Well it’s about time people start moving away from Facebook.

To be quite honest you spend 30 minutes there and you eventually start feeling bored.

Does anyone even remember or HI 5???

If you’re not ‘stalking’ someone then you know you’re bored!

So on that note, what can one do to get through that day, so to speak?

Jump on the bandwagon and get on Instagram! If you’re not on Instagram, my best social media advice is you offline.

Considering the era we live in if you’re not taking a selfie – something must be wrong!

Even world leaders are taking Selfies. Have a look at our Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama or US President Obama and let’s not forget the king of selfies India’s Narendra Modi.

Jokes aside photography is on the forefront of our daily lives. We’re always trying to capture every moment.

That summarises Instagram – Capturing every moment.

Here’s a crash course on how to use Instagram. Once you’re there do follow us on Fiji Sun Online (@fiji_sun).

Happy Instagramming!

Find People To Follow

Instagram is about photos, but it’s also about interaction.
When you first sign up, the app will ask you if you’d like to find friends already on Instagram in your existing networks, like Facebook or using the Explore tab is also a useful way to discover new and popular users to follow.

Use Hashtags

Hashtags are a pretty big deal on Instagram.
You can actually attract more followers, likes and comments to your photos just by adding as many relevant hashtags you can think of to the photo description before you post them.
For example, a photo of a dog could include: #pets, #dogs, #germanshepherd, #love, #animals, #cute and so on.
Since people are actively search through tags on Instagram, it’s almost impossible not to be discovered by other users. You can check out some of Instagram’s most popular hashtag trends right here.

Focus Of Food, Pets and Sunsets

If you spend enough time on Instagram, you’ll start to notice some big photo trends. Selfies sure are a popular one, but so are pictures of food, pictures of dogs and cats, and picture of sunsets or the outdoors.
Go ahead and try an experiment. Take some photos of delicious food or a beautiful sunset and start adding as many hashtags as you can come up with before posting it. You’ll almost be guaranteed to attract interaction from other users.

Post instagram photos on other sites

Last but not least, another great way to find more followers and get more likes or comments is to post your Instagram photos to other social networks. Instagram lets you do this automatically to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr.
You only need to allow Instagram to access your other social accounts once, and then you can post away. Simply tap the social network in the “Share” section before you post a photo on Instagram to have it automatically posted to Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr/Flickr.

Use Location Tagging

Instagram gives you your very own photo map that you and your friends can look at to see what places in the world you’ve visited and where you took your Instagram photos.

Check the “Add to Photo Map” box before you post your photo, and then you can add an optional “Name this location” name as well.
