A packed crowd is expected tonight during the Procera Fiji Music Awards at the Holiday Inn Suva.

The awards will be presented by the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) and Procera Music.

The managing director for Procera Music, Mohammed Akif, said the artists nominated for the awards would be judged on how popular their music has been on air and with the public.

“We have about 21 awards for the night, which will be given away to artists from various categories like sigidrigi, vude, gospel, choir, bhajan, kirtan, logit and filming,” he said.

“We are also giving away a special recognition award, best composer and a life time achievement award so everyone is pretty much excited for it.”

Mr Akif said preparations have been good and since this was the sixth year, they have received a good response with the sale of tickets.

“We have famous local artists like Laisa Vulakoro, Rootstrata, Jale Mareau and other performers like DJ Parneel, Maunikoso dance group as well as the Rako Dance group,” Mr Akif said.

Fijian group sensation ‘Sea Domoni’ which is a current favorite in both the Fijian stations Viti and Bula FM will be a group to watch with last year’s top ‘vude’ seller Jale Mareau who are expected to take the stage at the awards night.        Remaining tickets can be bought from FBC or Procera Music office.
