The race is on for the second spot in the 2015 Rewa Galaxy Premier League competition.

While Jack’s Nadi has won the title last Friday and qualified for OFC Champions League, Shop N Save Lautoka and Suva are favourites to finish second.

Suva and Lautoka survived gruelling encounters against Ba and Tailevu-Naitasiri respectively yesterday to emerge favourites with three more rounds remaining.

Lautoka defeated Tailevu-Naitasiri 5-1 at the Ratu Cakobau Park while Suva defeated Ba 3-2 at the ANZ Stadium.

Lautoka is in second position with 22 points while Suva is closing the gap with 19 pts.

However, the capital city side has more chances to secure second position with three games to play while the Blues has one game left.

Suva will play Nadi, Lautoka and Tailevu-Naitasiri while Lautoka will need to beat Suva in their last match and hope that other results are in their favour to qualify for OFC Champions’ League.

Vodafone Fijian Under-20 rep Nickel Chand scored two superb goals and Maciu Dunadamu’s penalty secured Suva’s important win against a 10-men Ba side.

Suva coach Gurjit Singh is confident of qualifying after his team shut out the ‘Men in Black’ yesterday.

“Three games to go and we will give our all to qualify for the Champions League,”Singh said.

Despite the loss, Ba remains positive that they will qualify.

Ba has an outside chance along with Rewa and Labasa should Lautoka and Suva lose their games.

“We haven’t lost hope as anything can happen,we will fight until the end,” Ba Football secretary Iliyaz Khan said.

“We have two games to play and we can make it as well,” Khan.”
