Nadi-based Shahabud Dean Transport Limited is the latest bus company to upgrade its bus flee. Investment is $1.125 million.

Managing director Zane Dean said: “The Government has done so much for the school children so we have to work accordingly.

“We are benefiting from their decision and allowing us to bring in more busses.”

Mr Dean was referring to Government’s 2012 policy on capital items (which refer to machinery used in the manufacture of approved goods) attracting zero per cent duty.

Demand

The six Hino AK 215 model buses arrived this week. They were bought to meet the demands of the public especially in the Legalega and Votualevu area.

“There is an increase in passengers as the Government started giving away the school vouchers,” Mr Dean said.

“The population in Legalega and Votualevu is increasing day by day and we have to provide enough busses to cater the services.”

Mr Dean had gone to Indonesia, in January to ensure the custom-built buses were suitable for Fiji’s road conditions.

“We are simply ensuring that we give better services to the customers and meeting consumer needs.

“We are also very pleased that the road conditions are also improving and that is very good for the busses.”

The old buses will continue to run as scheduled as these new ones will be addition to boost their services.
