Four Year Six students of Tavua Primary School have been selected to represent Fiji at the Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC) in Japan.
Josefa Qica, Luse Nasara, Sohem Kumar and Natasha Kumar presented their itatau on Friday to the director for the Curriculum Advisory Unit, Ponipate Tiko. at Senikau House in Suva.
The four students could not hide their excitement while describing how they felt to be chosen to represent Fiji.
Natasha Kumar, 11, said: “This is my first time to go overseas and I am looking forward to meeting other children and learning about Japanese culture.”
Ponipate Tiko said: “I am looking forward to tasting Japanese dishes.”
APCC is known as the biggest international event for children worldwide.
APCC organising committee member Deepak Datt said Bridge Club Fiji was an alumni of Junior Ambassadors, who have represented Fiji under the APCC in Japan.
“There is a selecting criteria which is set by APPC and this is how we get to pick the four students,” Mr Datt said.
“Students will display Fiji’s culture and tradition through meke, oral presentations, etc,” he said.
The team will leave for Japan on Friday.
