Semesa Naiseruvati won gold in the men’s single event against Norfork Island yesterday.

Naiseruvati beat Pi Ngatokoiva Lawrence Paniani of Cook Islands 21-14 to book a gold medal match while Philip Jones of Norfork Island ended the chances of Anthony Nipue Yogiyo of PNG 21-15 in their semifinal.

Fiji also secured gold medal in the ladies trips event. The team led by Litia Tikoisuva, Sheryl Mar and Elizabeth Moceiwai defeated Niue in the final. Fiji defeated Cook Islands in the semifinal.

Fiji won silver in the women’s pair after being edged out by PNG. The PNG women’s pairs team rolled Niue to win 29-7, setting up a final meeting with Fiji who got past Cook Islands 17-13 in the semifinal. The pairs Radhika Prasad and Sarote Hiangi lost to Cook Island in their opening game 16-17 but came out strong yesterday.

Naiseruvati was pleased with the favourable weather condition which contributed to his positive outcome.

Meanwhile, the men’s fours won bronze medal.
