Contestants of the ongoing Vodafone Tebara Carnival made the children of Nausori Special School students happy yesterday by singing and dancing to them.

The contestants visited the school yesterday morning.

Carnival director for queen committee Shainaaz Ali said they were happy with the response of the children.

“The Nausori Special School students were really happy to see the queen contestants dancing in front of them,” Ms Ali said.

Miss Koronivia Sheryl Mudaliar said: “When I came in the morning, we were not prepared for a dance item.

“The joy, gratitude and warmth of all the kids here when they started singing to us, and the smiles on their faces made us want to return the same emotions to them,” Ms Mudaliar said.

“Our dance performance was just a reciprocation of what they gave us this morning (yesterday).

“It was a wonderful feeling to perform for them,” she said.

Ms Ali, meanwhile, said the contestants had been involved in programmes to promote the carnival.

“We want the other communities in Nausori to know about our queen contestants and help them advocate on issues to communities.

“The Vodafone Tebara Carnival has been revived after 13 years and we want to celebrate it in a big way.”
