It was the joyous Sunday for residents of the Babasiga Ashram Old people’s home in Labasa.

A former Labasa resident who now resides in Brisbane, Australia, with his family visited the home with donations – a wheelchair, slippers, blankets and others items.

Ray Enfield and wife Pratima with a family friend, Vicki Marr, brought smiles not only to the residents but also to the caregivers.

Mr Enfield said people who were originally from Labasa and now leave overseas should always think of their people back home.

“I do this every year when I come to Labasa, I always make sure I visit and give something to the senior citizens as everyone will reach the same age,” he said.

“These people should not be forgotten because they also need special attention and a comfortable living condition.

“Living and running my own business in Australia has been very good, but I always have the passion to help people back home, especially Labasa.”

Same sentiments were shared by family friend Mrs Marr.

“Even just a simple visit would really mean a lot to these people as well,” she said.

Mr and Mrs Enfield plan to continue helping not only citizens in Labasa, but vulnerable people living in the community.
