Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) has extended their partnership with the Sugar Festival.

The week-long festival is scheduled for September 19-26, dubbed the largest of its kind in the Western Division.

TFL chief executive officer Mothilal De Silva said this was in line with their social responsibility to give back to the community.

“We basically recognise the contribution of the customer that is based in this side of the country,” he said.

“The objective of this partnership is to see that proceeds are channeled back to the community. This is our social responsibility to empower youth in various commitments and this is one way we look forward to.”

The festival’s president Brijesh Chandra thanked the TFL for the support.

He said this had boosted the preparations for the festival with all the money collected going to the housing, and medical needs of the underprivileged in the Lautoka community.

“We thank TFL for coming on board once again, it is a pity that Lautoka based companies are not coming forward to support this event despite there are new development,” Mr Chandra said.

“We also want the people of Lautoka to come out in large numbers and enjoy the entertainment provided at the grounds during the festival week.”

Ten queen contestants are seeking to claim the crown.
