It’s been more than 330 days since the mysterious death of a 12-year-old girl from Samabula, without anyone being held accountable.

Similarly, the suspect who allegedly killed the chief executive officer of Lees Trading Company Limited, Holland Seeto, is still on the run. It’s been more than 180 days since the alleged incident took place.

These are two major criminal cases that remain a mystery and Police are treating them as murder.

For the 12-year-old girl, Police have kept her identity a secret while they continued their investigation. The victim was left alone at home while her father had gone out to have a haircut and her mother to church.

When the girl’s father returned home he noticed the daughter lying motionless. He rushed her to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital but she was pronounced dead.

Last month two Chinese Police officers were in the country assisting the Police team here in their investigations.

A number of people were brought in for questioning earlier and released, but so far no arrests have been made.

The late Mr Seeto, 59, died from stab wounds in his office in Laucala Beach Estate on the morning of January 29 this year. In February, a suspect was taken in for questioning.

The Police sought more time to interrogate the suspect and a notice of motion and supporting affidavit was filed in court. The extension was granted to keep the suspect in Police custody for four more days, but because there was a lack of evidence after the extension period the suspect was released.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said investigation for both cases were ongoing.
