The Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort at the Coral Coast yesterday paid special tribute to the families and children of their 520 employees.

General manager Peter Hopgood, while opening the 5th Outrigger Staff Carnival, thanked the families and children of staff members in helping the resort succeed this year.

“Today is all about the kids, our beautiful children those who are so dear to our hearts, our pride and joy,” Mr Hopgood said.

“It is important that we acknowledge our staff, their families and children. This is a treat for them.”

He said the carnival was for the staff members, their spouses and families to have a family fun day.

He said the success of the resort despite the difficult year was through the hard work and unity of staff members.

“We have the best spa, best restaurants, best gardeners, best butlers and best nannies of any resort in Fiji,” he said.

“We are the Number One family resort on Trip Advisor and we have a very high percentage of returnee guests who return to our beautiful resort year after year.

“Have so much fun because we are so pleased that we could provide this special day for you,” he said.

About 1400 people (staff, spouses, children and some guests) attended the event.

Some staff members operated stalls selling food and pastry, and used items to help them at home.

There were food, snacks, soft drinks, balloons, Ferris wheel and Merry Go Round rides, Bouncy Castle, snacks, face painting, Zumba, shopping vouchers, and fire safety demonstration by the National Fire Authority (NFA).

Mr Hopgood, meanwhile, donated money from his stall to the members’ community fund.
