Thirty women took part in the learning exchange for FemLINK PACIFIC young women’s community media network meeting at the Tanoa Plaza hotel in Suva on Tuesday.

The meeting created an opportunity for young women to learn from one another.

FemLINK PACIFIC executive director Sharon Bhagwan Rolls said: “This year in terms of woman, peace and security there have been three distinct yet interconnection reviews taking place.

“The peace building architecture review, peace operation reviews channel and global study on UN Security Council resolution on 1325 on woman, peace and security.

“For FemLINK PACIFIC at the regional level this is been an important time for us as advocates of the Security Council revolution. As advocates of 1325 we are part of network of women peace builders who contributed to lobbying, drafting and the ongoing advocacy of the Pacific regional action plan on women, peace and security.”

Labasa FemLINK PACIFIC participant Lucille Chute said: “I am here for the young woman exchange and I will learn what FemLINK PACIFIC has been doing in Suva and I will take this back with me to the North.

“I hope to learn a lot from other young women in this meeting and broaden my knowledge and skills,” she said.

The meeting ends tomorrow.
