Labasa will be lucky to witness the dance and musical group led by famous Ghazal artist Penaz Masani tonight at the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North in Subrail Park, Labasa.

The 12-member group, including eight dancers and choreographer Ronica Jacob, has already performed at Vodafone Hibiscus Festival in Suva, Taveuni, Savusavu, and now they will bring live music and dance to Babasiga.

Ms Masani is a Ghazal singer from India whose performances have enthralled audiences around the world.

Her first show in Fiji was in 1996 and she has returned to again spin and render the magic of her voice.

“I love Fiji and I feel honoured to build cultural ties through music and dance; and I’m aware there are many Indians here who have blended in very well,” Ms Masani said.

“Once again I am here and I urge people to come out in great numbers and enjoy the music and dance that our group has prepared to entertain you.”

Festival committee president Rajesh Rishiram said Ms Masani sang in over a dozen languages.

“We would like to thank the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) director Kishan Kanojia for making all the arrangement to bring the group to Labasa,” he said.

After their performance in Labasa the group will travel to Nauru to perform their last show before returning to India.
