A family in Lautoka are keeping their fingers crossed on the whereabouts of their brother, fisherman, Shashi Reddy. The 51-year-old of Top Line has been missing at sea since he went out fishing last Saturday afternoon with a 40-year- old man from the same settlement.

Elder brother Anand Reddy, 56, said they last saw him last Saturday at 10.30am.

“My brother came home from fishing on Saturday morning had his shower and he returned again to fish,” Mr Reddy said.

“We miss him and hope that he returns home safely soon; his two children are eagerly awaiting his return,”

The brothers have been searching for him in the last four days.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed the search for a 50-year-old man in waters near Vomo Island continues.

“It is alleged that later that night the victim fell overboard because of rough seas and attempts to locate him have proved futile so far,” she said.

She added the matter was reported at the Lautoka Police Station at 2am the next morning and a search conducted.

Ms Naisoro has advised mariners and those living near the area to keep a look out and call their nearest police station if they are able to locate the victim.
