What happened:

The Ba Youth team beat Lautoka Youth 3-2 in the Rewa Galaxy Youth League at the Fiji Football Academy ground in Ba yesterday.

Lautoka surprised Ba by scoring their goal for the 1-0 lead two minutes into the game.

Ba quickly reshuffled their game plan and fired back. The ‘Men in Black’ produced good attacks and levelled scores 1-all eight minutes later.

In the 12th minute Marika Ratoto managed another goal for his side to extend their lead 2-1. Ba maintained their dominance blocking Lautoka in every way they could. The side managed to score another goal in the 44th minute just before halftime.

Lautoka, with the fighting spirit, stopped Ba from more goals. They used great passing skills and attacks to score 3-2 midway into the spell.

But, they their finishing let them down as Ba victors 3-2 at the end.

Star turn:

Ba football team showed an outstanding performance.

Big play: Marika Ratoto who scored the second goal for his Ba side had great kicking skills which added to his side’s performance.


Ba coach Sunil Kumar: “Hats off to the boys for the great effort made. We could have scored more goals, but with a lot of pressure we couldn’t.

Lautoka coach Shanim Mohhamed: “We gave a good tough competition to Ba and we congratulate them for their win. It was a good performance shown by the boys and I am very happy with what we have achieved. Pressure is what had cost us in the first-half.
