Elderly Get Father’s Day Treat

The residents of the Natabua Golden Age Home in Lautoka, especially the senior fathers were overwhelmed by the visit of students from Sri Satya Sai Spiritual Education of Lautoka City Sai Centre during father’s day on Sunday.

Lautoka City Sai Centre education convener Rajneesh Lata Charan said the students sang the Bhajan’s for the residents, presented them with homemade Father’s Day cards and treated them with a grand morning tea.

“The residents felt very happy as they were pampered by the little ones. Some even shed tears of joy as they got reminded of their own children and grandchildren,” she said.

“What else could the residents ask for during this great occasion.”

Centre chairperson Ram Narayan and other spiritual gurus were also present during the Father’s Day celebrations.

Mr Narayan wished all fathers a very happy Father’s Day.

Meanwhile student representative Nirth Sharma shared the teachings of Sri Satya Sai Baba on sharing love.

“The teachings of Baba are “Love All, Serve All”.  We want to make this day memorable for you,” he said.

Students served the residents with morning tea and spent quality time with them.

Nadi Sports Club Assists Home Residents

Meanwhile the 42 patients at the Golden Age Home also received gifts and food items to celebrate Father’s Day from the Nadi Sports and Social Club who raised $3400 for the ocassion.

The residents including fathers and mothers all received gift packs and were given various dishes which brought smiles to their faces.

Nadi Sports and Social Club vice president Shirley Sangita Prasad said it was something they had to do to give back to the community.

“It was a pleasure doing something for the elderly citizens. As the vice-president I thought to do something different this year for Father’s Day.

“I wish to thank members for the generous donations and those who helped me with the buying,” Ms Prasad said.

“Things that we bought included Bula shirts, Polo Tee-shirts, shorts, face towels, bath towels, flip flops, undergarments, bed sheets with pillow cases, dresses, sulu and socks.

She said they also took medication and antiseptics together with groceries.

Meanwhile resident nurse Ilisapeci Vuniwaqa acknowledged the timely support.

“We thank the Nadi Sports and Social Club for visiting us today (Sunday) and we pray that we have more of this event,” Mrs Vuniwaqa said.
