A man charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs appeared at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.

Australian national Joseph Nayeef Abourizq appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe.

He was represented by lawyer Iqbal Khan while the State was represented by DPP lawyer Josaia Niudamu.

Mr Niudamu filed a response to the bail application.

Mr Khan requested the court for seven days to respond to the State’s submission.

The accused is charged with co-accused Josese Muriwaqa, both charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs worth $15 million in Vuda outside Lautoka.

The matter has been adjourned to September 18 for Mr Khan to respond to the State’s submission.
