If the boots fit why not wear them, says Private Erelia Rokovosa.

The soldier was with her family yesterday at the medal parade and church service after a one-year deployment at the Golan Heights.

Her four-year-old daughter Rebekah could not let go of her hand as she hugged and followed her mum around yesterday at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua.

“Serving in a field that is male-dominated is sometimes tough but it teaches you to be strong and courageous and females should not be afraid to compete with males; anything is possible,” she said.

“I have went for TOD twice to Iraq and last year was my first year to the Golan Heights and I thank family for their support and prayers and especially mother who was looking after my daughter when I was away for a year,”she said.

Private Rokovosa was among the 308 soldiers who were awarded a General Service Medal after completing a year’s TOD at the Golan Heights.
