Spa Vishala meaning?

  • The collective meaning of the word is larger than life, compassionate and the epitome of grace. Vishala is the beauty of a woman inside out.
  • The meaning is also attributive to the spa and its characteristics, which intends to provide each guest a unique journey through its various treatment rituals.

The completion of Yatule Resort & Spa’s most recent project, Spa Vishala, has brought the total investment in the resort over the past seven months to around $3 million.

Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, acknowledged the opening of the new spa facility has added 40 new jobs in the tourism sector.

His comments came as he opened the resort’s new Spa Vishala in Natadola on Saturday.

The resort is fully owned by FNPF Investments Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Fiji National Provident Fund.

It reopened on January 17 following a $2 million investment by FNPF to upgrade and refurbish the resort.

The resort is since operated by Tour Managers Fiji which was nominated as a successful bidder following a public expression of interest process.

Tour Managers Fiji is a locally-owned destination management company.

Mr Koya said the investment reflects the confidence the local investors have in the hotel and hospitality sector in Fiji.

“Investments in spa facilities, such as, Spa Vishala offer our visitors more than just the beautiful, serene environment and comfortable accommodation,” he said.

“They are able to enjoy all of this and also pamper themselves with a spa treatment of their choice.”

Mr Koya further acknowledged the vision of the operators of the resort for putting emphasis on local employment, training and development of staff.

“A testament to this priority is the recruitment of suitably qualified personnel for management positions within the resort today,” he said.

Positive growth

Mr Koya noted that under Tour Managers Fiji’s guidance, the resort has had five months of positive growth.

“This is expected to reach higher levels by the end of the year and this is indeed a huge achievement,” he said.

Vision and goal

Mr Koya noted that Tour Managers Fiji managing director, Damend Gounder’s personal goal was not only to create employment for Fijians.

But, he said Mr Gounder’s aim was to also provide locals the opportunity to work in a luxury resort that places them in positions of responsibility and management.

“This in turn will showcase the potential that suitably qualified Fijians have,” Mr Koya said.

Mr Gounder said the opening of the Spa was his opportunity to give back to the community by creating more room for employment.

“Our key vision is to create new employments for locals and continue with the development of the resort,” he said.

“At the moment, we have got to get this right and then when everything is settled, we will look into other things.”

Yatule Resort & Spa Background

  • The resort property was originally built in 2005.
  • It was designed to serve as accommodation for consultants and contractors involved in building the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, next door on Natadola Beach.
  • Upon completion of the InterContinental, the construction property was then converted to bungalow-type accommodation and opened as a beachfront resort.
  • The resort sits on a prime location alongside the world-renowned Natadola beach.
  • Given its potential, the FNPF Board made a decision to re-invest into the upgrade of the Resort with the Fund investing just over $2 million for the upgrade.
  • The resort is now being operated by Tour Managers Fiji. The company was nominated as a successful bidder following a public Expression Of Interest process.
  • Tour Managers Fiji offers a wide range of exclusive transport services, facilities, and value adding products to Free Independent Travelers (FIT’s), Conferences, and Groups and Incentive Markets.
