The $4 million investment in Galaxy Plaza along Nasekula Road is sure to give Labasa a facelift.

The investment by Dalip Chand & Son Buses Limited is expected to be completed over the next nine months.

Director Rohinil Chand confirmed they started with the ground works this week.

Mr Chand said this architectural plaza would be like a one-stop-shop for every consumer and traveller.

The three-storey plaza will have 20 room apartments, retail outlets supermarket, car park for 40 vehicles and restaurants.

“I have planned well for the car parking space because I have seen the shoppers finding a lot of difficulty in parking their vehicle near the supermarkets in Labasa,” he said.

He said parking has always been a problem but for this plaza, parking would not be at all a problem.

“The project is designed in such a way to provide all services and goods for every consumer, traveller, business people and tertiary students,” Mr Chand said.

“Why I chose to invest in Labasa is because being born and brought up in Labasa, I want to give back to the people what they really need.

“Also my investment is in line with the Government’s Look North Policy.”

Mr Chand said businesses are developing in Labasa and there is more room available for further business development.

He said once this plaza starts its operation, it would provide job opportunities to more than 100 people in Labasa.

“Already people have shown their interest of occupying space for their business in the plaza which was a very positive sign,” Mr Chand said.

“I have also planned to provide bus service pick up for customers from the plaza to different routes around Labasa to Seaqaqa and Savusavu.”

The three-storey Galaxy plaza along nasekula road will have:

  • 20 room apartments
  • Supermarket
  • Car park for 40 vehicles
  • Restaurants
  • Retail outlets
