Students of DAV College in Nabua, Suva, were yesterday reminded to uphold the reputation of their school because this is one of their duties.
The Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports, Josefa Sania, made the remark while officiating at the school’s prizegiving yesterday.
“The demand will be on you to be more informed, more caring and be responsible, not only to yourself but to your school, your friends and your community,” Mr Sania said.
“As you move into life beyond DAV, change will be inevitable. It is inevitable that you will face new challenges and it is inevitable that things may seem a little different in the coming year.”
He said these changes meant they had a lot to learn.
“Take a moment to reflect on everything you have achieved. Wherever you may find yourself and whatever challenge you may have chosen to follow and explore, hold true to what shaped your yesterdays; acknowledge and appreciate what you are today and dare to be all that you can be tomorrow,” he said.
More than 50 students from the school were yesterday awarded for their academic achievements this year.
