Sabeto Roosters are the new winners of the 2015 Vodafone Cup Top 8 competition after beating Nabua Broncos 16-6 at the ANZ Stadium last night.

This is the third time that Sabeto Roosters has won the Vodafone Cup Top 8 competition with the first being in 2003 and second in 2013.

Coach Voate Naravu said this was a special moment for them as most of the team has been made up of new players.

“We have a lot of new players and only four or five old players, so to win here tonight (last night) is something special.

“I am really happy with how the boys performed, we started of slow in the first half but they really picked up in the second half to win this game for us,” Naravu said.

“I want to thank them for their hard effort and for giving it their all because they knew how much winning means to us.”

The game was tied at 4-4 at half time. Nabua Broncos Coach player Aporosa Vosataki said even though they lost, he was proud of their performance.

“We made a few errors and did not utilise our possession but either way I am happy and proud of the way the boys performed.

“This loss only means that we have to work hard and come back stronger next year,” Vosataki said.

Sabeto Roosters received a prize money of $3000 and will travel to Papua New Guinea next week to take part in the Digicel Cup champion. Nabua Broncos received a prize money of $1500.
