Thirty-six-year-old Maloni Moceyawa yesterday informed the High Court in Lautoka that he wanted to engage Legal Aid Services.

Moceyawa who was charged with one count of murder and one count of intent to cause grievous bodily harm appeared before the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.

The State sought time from the Court to file Information and Disclosures.

The same was granted by the Court and the matter has been adjourned to October 12, 2015 for mention.

On the afternoon of September 9, Moceyawa allegedly attacked and killed Simran Singh with a cane knife. She was a Year 10 student of Penang High School, who was on her way home.

He also allegedly attacked and injured Simran’s father, Jainendra Singh, who tried to intervene.

He then allegedly fled the scene.
