While budgets for most of the Ministries have been finalised for 2016, some other processes are still being finalised including revenue aspects.

The Acting Prime Minister and the Minister for Finance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said normally when speaking of budget, people only know about expenditure and how much each ministry was getting.

“But there is another aspect which is revenue,” he said.

He said it was important to note what kind of revenue would be generated and how Government will get the revenue and through what policies.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said most of the Ministries had their budgets set but some of them needed to be finalised after another round of consultations.

Furthermore, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said following the Budget Forum on Saturday, there were a couple of issues which went around but needed to be discussed specifically with the groups in detail.

“This is because some people make general comments that we should do this but how do you do it. So we need more specific details,” he said.
