Police Focus On Criminal Elements Of Alleged Offence

The Fiji Police Force continues investigations into claims made by several women against a church pastor.

Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, Assistant Commissioner of Police Henry Brown said that at this point in time they are focusing on the criminal elements of the alleged offences.

“There have been questions raised with regards to the church’s registration under the Religious Bodies Act, and while it has been confirmed that it has not been registered, our main focus is the criminal aspect of the claims made against the suspect,” he said.

“As the case is also before the courts there are certain details of the ongoing investigation that cannot be made public until substantial progress has been made.”

On Monday, A fifty-three year old man was produced at the Nasinu Magistrates’ Court today charged with one count of indecent assault contrary to section 212 of the Crimes Decree 2009.

The  matter has been adjourned to Friday (2 October 2015) for bail ruling. The accused has been remanded in police custody as investigations continue.
