The Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou has reassured youths of the Eastern Division that his ministry would make every effort to deliver and fulfill its promises.

Speaking to youth representatives from the division at the ministry’s head office in Suva on Tuesday, said they would be visiting youth groups in Lau and Lomaiviti, parts of Kadavu and Rotuma before the end of the year.

It is part of the ministry’s nationwide youth group consultation.

“As promised, we will come to your villages to see what you need,” Mr Tuitubou said.

He said there were 2541 registered youth groups nationwide and so far close to 500 youth groups had been visited by his Assistant Minister, Iliesa Delana and himself.

“Our assistant minister will be leaving on Friday to visit the youths in Rotuma and will be spending a week there, but I will come to visit you before the end of the year.”

He urged the youths to always pay a visit to the ministry whenever they were in Suva.

“This is your ministry. If it wasn’t for you, our service would be meaningless.”
Juju Youth Club representative Lorraine Rigamoto thanked Mr Tuitubou, given the isolation of maritime islands like Rotuma.

“I am happy that we were given another chance to sit and talk with Minister Tuitubou. Some of us during the conference were not confident to raise some of the issues we faced in our islands,” she said.

“His reassurance that he will come and visit maritime youths will boost our confidence as young people and will strengthen our relationship with the ministry.”
