The 20th National Convention on Quality will be marked in a unique fashion this year.

The much-awaited and anticipated event will be hosted by the Fiji National University’s National Training and Productivity Centre next Thursday on October 8.

This is an annual event organised by the centre with the purpose of celebrating, sharing, benchmarking and recognising outstanding quality circles from all corners of Fiji.

Fiji has over 300 Quality Circles teams in over 40 various organisations.

NTPC Deputy Director Business and Information Technology Sachin Deo said: “It is undoubtedly the premier event on quality for productivity practitioners and for others wishing to learn and benchmark.

“This year will be a grand celebration for the 20th National Convention on Quality with very intense competition from all the teams and also a good learning opportunity for other organisations.”

Mr Deo said the competition was only getting tougher every year and prizes over the years had been reviewed

“FNU ensures to give our QC teams exposure in the international arena by sending the winning team and individual winners to International Exposition on Team Excellence (IETEX), Singapore,” he said.

“The IETEX exhibits delegates and teams from Singapore, Thailand, India, Taiwan, China, Indonesia and Hong Kong come together to showcase their projects.”

Mr Deo said NTPC over the past two decades, hasd witnessed a number of organisations in Fiji embracing quality management for business improvement.

He said this was very encouraging and commended the participating organisations.

Souvenir book

As a result, Mr Deo said they have therefore documented these success stories in the form of a souvenir book to be launched at the event this year.

“The souvenir book will highlight success stories over the past 20 years,” Mr Deo said.

A total of seven organisations are participating this year.

The day programme of presentations will be held at Novotel Suva Lami Bay Hotel from 8.30am to 5pm.

This will be followed by the awards programme, cocktail and dinner at Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva from 6.30pm.
